Edward Feehan
Songwriter/Audio Engineer
I began my journey to become a professional audio engineer in 2011 when I was given
the opportunity to work with a live sound technician at a local music venue in my hometown.
Through this experience I first realized a world outside of simply being an artist or a
musician. I discovered that the people behind the scenes were the unsung heroes of the
music industry. They were the ones truly responsible for supplying the world with the life
changing music that I had grown to respect and admire. After working at this venue for just
over a year I decided to expand my experience in the audio industry by becoming educated
in the art of audio engineering. I subsequently applied to the Art Institute of Vancouver and was accepted into the professional recording arts program in the summer of 2012.
I moved to Vancouver in August of 2012. I have been in school consistently since and have
worked hard to achieve the Deans Honour Roll every quarter. In addition I have been
working closely with one of the lead instructors Andrew Czink to think critically about modern media, the music industry, and various other artistic ideas. In addition I have learned, through the Art Institute's various programs, how to properly use Pro Tools, Logic, the SSL Duality Console, the ProControl, as well as understanding the microphone techniques necessary to
create coherent and professional recordings. Upon finishing my diploma in March of 2014 I will have a portfolio that will include a six song EP written, played, engineered, mixed, and mastered
by me, as well as a student film that I composed the score for, and a student film that
Jordan Leganchuk and I did all of the post-audio work on, in addition to other various projects.
I hope to attend the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts for one year from 2014-2015
before I begin my professional career as an audio specialist. I hope this career involves
composing and sound designing for films, television and video games, as well as recording
myself and other musicians as a songwriter and arranger.
